چکیده

Objective To evaluate real-world utilization patterns of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) among patients with generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) over 3 years post-IVIg initiation. Background gMG is a rare autoimmune neuromuscular disorder no known cure. Although IVIg the most commonly used add-on therapy after standard care treatments in gMG, it currently unclear whether more as “one-off” treatment to manage exacerbations, or maintenance aimed at reducing replacing steroid use. Design/Methods Patients who initiated were identified from US claims database (Symphony Health, an ICON plc Company, Integrated Dataverse [IDV]®, January 1, 2014-December 31, 2019). The frequency subsequent and associated cost during first 12 months initiation analyzed. Usage concomitant year preceding compared. Results Among 1225 treatment, 706 (57.6%) received 1 5 courses (intermittent users), 519 (42.4%) = 6 (chronic users) within year. Mean annual medical per patient was nearly 2.5-fold higher for chronic vs intermittent users ($161,478 $64,888, p < 0.001). other immunotherapy did not decrease follow-up period, even continued consecutive post-initiation. Conclusions Nearly half multiple once initiating indicating usage than expected. For all initiators, despite

An 7-year-old girl with ocular myasthenia gravis (MG) refractory to prednisolone and anticholinesterase compounds was treated with high-dose intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg). Ocular symptoms disappeared rapidly by the administration of IVIg 300 mg/kg/day for five consecutive days. Booster infusions of IVIg at an interval of 2 weeks appeared to be effective in maintaining a remission at least a...

Immunoglobulin treatment in refractory Myasthenia gravis.

Failure to induce and maintain remission in severe exacerbations of myasthenia gravis (MG), despite optimal care, is a common problem. We evaluated the efficacy and safety of high-dose intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) therapy in an open-label study of 10 patients with severe generalized myasthenia and an acute deterioration unresponsive to conventional therapy including high-dose corticosteroi...
